Finding a New Normal

There isn’t much to say currently. I’m in the middle of doing a 90-day writing challenge, in which I’m planning to write, edit and publish a book (possibly two) in 90 days. I’m slowly making my way through that challenge.

I’ve had to take a real step back and look at everything I am working on and what all I actually have time to work on. They don’t equal out to each other, and I realized I kept treating my work and all my projects as if I didn’t have anything else at home going on… You know… Kids at home for homeschooling/summer break, chores (more now that we’re hauling water as well), and just life in general.

That has meant a change in my plans. One I wasn’t prepared to make, but has since made things A LOT easier. Believe it or not, the 90-day writing challenge is making sure I still get work done despite everything else I have going on. It’s been… eye-opening…

Projects!

Thanks to the 90-day writing challenge, I’m only actively working on two projects currently, but that doesn’t mean this list has gotten any shorter.

QUARANTINED WITH ANTHOLOGY

I just learned today that the publishing company that was going to be doing this anthology is shutting its doors, and I’ll be getting the rights back to my story at the end of the week. I don’t know what step I’ll take next with Cowboys & Dragons, but I love the story too much to let it sit idle, so I may purchase a cover for it and release it myself.

DAMNED AND DANGEROUS QUARTET

The second project I’m working on for the 90-day writing challenge, I’m moving through the third book of this series slowly. I discovered a lot of what I’d originally written in this book could no longer be used as it went into the second (because it just made more sense), so I’m working on this one from the ground up.

I’m really enjoying the process though. Here’s the cover for it to get you excited about it. Once I have it with the editor, I’ll be placing a pre-order for it. This will be available on Amazon as an e-book and if you have Kindle Unlimited, you’ll be able to read it for free. Stay tuned!

FUR, TEETH, AND CLAWS

I still don’t have stable enough internet to really focus on this project. It’s already taken me a long time to prepare what little I have, and I still have a lot more work to do before I’m happy with this. I will keep you updated with this project. I promise. For now, it’s going on a semi-permanent backburner. At least until I have stable internet at home again!

A Modernism of Magic

One of the two projects I’m concentrating on for the 90-day writing challenge. I’m releasing it in August through Kindle Vella, Amazon’s new serial reading program that allows you to read the first three chapters of a work for free, but then purchase tokens to read each chapter afterward. Have you read anything on Kindle Vella yet? What are your thoughts?

This work is a contemporary fantasy that follows the lives of various paranormal races as they go about their day-to-day lives in a world where magic is known and actively accepted… for the most part. I can’t wait to release it to the world, but in the meantime, here’s the cover for it! I love it so much!

The contest ran from March 1 to May 1, but I haven’t heard back on where my piece stood among the other contestants. There’s three top prizes and up to 120 entries will be used to create an anthology. Read more about the flash fiction contest rules to see why I’m so excited about this.

I’m hard at work creating paperbacks for the three books I’ve already released in e-book form. I’ve purchased ISBNs, and the files have been created for paperbacks. Now it’s just a matter of uploading those files and having proofs sent my way. Another item on my when-I-have-internet list.
