Happy Holidays!
October is the start of a three-month holiday bonanza for a lot of people, and this month is the last month of those major holidays. If you celebrate Christmas, I hope you have a merry Christmas. If you don’t, I still wish you a happy holidays, as the new year is right around the corner.
There isn’t a lot of updates to give this month. I got swamped with a small handful of client work that all has a Christmas deadline, and I got a new job at the beginning of December. I’m now a housekeeper at a nursing home. It’s hard work but it’s not terrible. The hardest part is figuring out a new schedule to work around, and I’m still working on that.

What Happened with NaNoWriMo?
If you didn’t know, NaNo is a 30-day writing challenge where the goal is to write 50,000 words in 30 days or 1,667 words a day for 30 days. It’s a fun international event in the writing world.
I was working on the third book in the Damned and Dangerous Quartet with the intention of finishing it before the end of the month. I wasn’t aiming for the usual 50K for NaNo, but 60K instead.
I did not win NaNo.
I ended the month with about 15K words in the novel and about 43K words written total for the month. That’s OK though. I was editing as I went and there were a handful of times where the story just wasn’t working for me, so I started over.
It’s finally working in my favor, and my current word count is about 28K at the moment. I think this novel will be a little longer than 60,000 words, but again, that’s OK. I would like to be finished with it by the end of the year. I was hoping to release it by the end of the year, but since I didn’t finish it in November, that’s not going to happen.
Instead, I’m aiming for a spring release, and funny enough story, that’s what my website has said for a while, which I’d forgotten. Past me planned ahead. Go past me. I hope to finish this re-write with the cleanest draft possible (editing in loops as I write) before the end of the year so I can plan for a March release. Hopefully, before my birthday on March 23. Happy birthday to me.

Paperbacks
I need to make a couple changes to the cover of Cowboys and Dragons, and just haven't been able to yet. I'm still hoping to release the paperback before the end of the year, but it hasn't happened yet with starting a new job and fitting in client work.
I don’t know if I really explained that yet, but there’s some personal health happenings going on with one of my cover artists, and I don’t want to bombard her with work while she’s recovering. She did the covers for the first books in both my series, and it doesn’t make sense to me to have a paperback out for sequels when I don’t have one for the first book. So, paperbacks for current works (and possibly future ones) are on hold until I get an all-clear-for-work from her.
That’s all I have for you this month. Hopefully, I have better and more exciting news next month.
Take care, dragonling!
