Haaalp Me!!!
I know it’s been a while since I’ve sent a newsletter… Again… The truth is I just forget to do so. I promise I’ll get better about it! I’ve even started adding it onto my to-do lists in my planner as well as my kanban board.
I feel like I’m ready to make some changes to my newsletters, but I’m not exactly sure what kind or how. I’m interested to know what you think..
Newsletter Send Date: Wednesday, August 12, 2020
When I first sent out a newsletter, I asked you what you'd be interested in getting in the newsletters.
There was a call for excerpts, which I’ve been trying to figure out how to add, but the problem is with the free short story, these newsletters are already sooo long, I feel like that would just be… Too much? Does that make sense? I hope it does.
Anyway, one of the ideas I had was to post the free short stories on pages only newsletter subscribers would get links to and you could read all of them (even the ones you may have missed depending on when you signed up). Then the links would be in every email, but not the short story itself, which means I could include excerpts instead.
I’ve created a poll to get a better idea of what y’all want and what I can offer you. I’d love it if you check it out.
NOTE: This poll is now closed.
I have two book covers to show you!!!
However, I’m having a conundrum, and I could use your help. Yes, you. Don’t look away from me like that. I see you averting your gaze.
I have two covers for two different stories. Originally, they were both supposed to be stand alone novels, but the characters decided they’re from the same world and there’s cameos of characters in both books. *le sigh*
The problem is that the typography (the text) on both covers looks so cool (in my opinion), but since they’ve decided they’re going to become a series, I’d like them to match. Hello, OCD Skye! Here’s how you can help!
You get to see two covers of mine for two novels, and I’d like you to help me pick which fonts you’d think would look better on the covers, so I can ask the cover artists to make changes.
Do you like the title font from: Dear Satan or Night Rider?
Do you like the author font from: Dear Satan or Night Rider?
It’s that simple. Really.
NOTE: This poll is now closed.
I’ll also be contacting both cover artists to have the series title added to the covers. Then I’ll do a real cover reveal of both titles WITH pre-order links. Oooh! Look at me getting all fancy up in hur!
So quick! Let me know what you think so I can get you the covers as well as those pre-order links faster!
NOTE: This poll is now closed.

Recent Readings
I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump the past couple of months. The only books I’ve managed to read are those that have been part of Writers Workshop, like the one listed below and even some of those books I haven’t finished.
How do you get out of a reading slump? I’m curious. I’ve never really dealt with one before.
Tamara Woods hosts a wonderful non-fiction book club over on her YouTube channel called Writers Workshop. The book of the month is chosen via a Goodreads poll and then there’s a panel of AuthorTubers who come together at the end of every month to discuss the book.
Last year, I was lucky enough to be on the panel of authors. This year has been a little more difficult, but I’ve still kept up with every book the panelists are reading and talking about.
This month they’re reading Writing Into the Dark by Dean Wesley Smith, and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the panelists have to say about it on the last Saturday of the month.
With more than a hundred published novels and more than seventeen million copies of his books in print, USA Today bestselling author Dean Wesley Smith knows how to outline. And he knows how to write a novel without an outline.
In this WMG Writer’s Guide, Dean takes you step-by-step through the process of writing without an outline and explains why not having an outline boosts your creative voice and keeps you more interested in your writing.
Want to enjoy your writing more and entertain yourself? Then toss away your outline and Write into the Dark.
“Dean Wesley Smith’s blog gives both a slightly different view of the publishing world than I’d seen before and detailed hands-on “here’s how to get from A to B” instruction.”

Exclusive Short Story Excerpt
If someone you love tells you he is going to hunt a particular werewolf, don’t laugh.
Don’t blink in surprise at the seemingly random statement. Don’t watch his face remain stolidly neutral or switch to disappointed hurt at your laughter. Don’t try to fix things by telling him he can’t be serious when you can plainly see he is just looking at his determined face. Don’t gawk at him with unbelieving eyes and expect him to tell you he’s joking, that he’s only playing April Fool’s when it’s the middle of May.
